TWO Zimbabwean brothers, Yaseen (13) and Zaydaan (15) Savania, will be racing in the 2025 Rotax African Open Kart event that will take place at the Zwartkops Kart Raceway in Pretoria, South Africa, this weekend.

The event will determine the 2025 African Karting Champions and will also qualify the winners for the Rotax Max Grand Finals in Bahrain.

One hundred and twenty-four drivers from five African countries are gathering for the prestigious event.

Open practice sessions started yesterday and both youngsters are hoping to make a good impression.

“I’m looking forward to finding out just how far I can push my limits in the competitive Rotax 125 class,” Yaseen said.

Zaydaan, racing in the same class, commented: “My karting journey is fueled by passion, dedication, sacrifice and support. I’m ready to give it my all!”

It’s the second time that the boys have raced at the Zwartkops track. Last year, they raced in the inaugural Africa Karting Cup.

While Yaseen is now in his first year in the Rotax 125 class, Zaydaan has won the last two Kart Sport Club Zimbabwean Rotax 125 Championships held at the Pole Position Karts Racetrack at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

This world class, FIA approved kart track is the perfect place for youngsters to learn the skills that they need to compete at regional, and even global level.

Kart Sport Club, with over 20 active drivers, provides an inspiring and supportive environment where youngsters can learn all about competitive karting.

Zac Dufty, who returned late last year from a stint working with one of the top UK kart teams, is their mentor and will be mechanic for both boys at the event under the auspices of RKT Racing, a top South African team.

“The Savania brothers will be giving it everything this weekend. I’ve been working with them intensively for six months and they both show great promise,” said Dufty
