ZIMBABWE is belatedly commemorating World Post Day at Magunje Business Centre in Mashonaland West province, today.
World Post Day is observed annually on 9 October, commemorating the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “150 years of enabling communication and empowering people across nations.”
Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Dr Tatenda Mavetera is officiating at the event.

She first toured the Magunje Post Office and Community Information Centre before proceeding to the Magunje Business Centre grounds where the main event is being held.

World Post Day 2024 is an annual celebration that recognises the importance of postal services in our lives and the role they play in connecting people and communities worldwide.

This day offers an opportunity to appreciate the postal workers who ensure the delivery of mail and packages, as well as to reflect on the evolution of postal services in the digital age.

World Post Day 2024 is a day dedicated to celebrating the postal sector and its contributions to global communication and commerce. It acknowledges the postal services’ role in connecting individuals, businesses, and governments and facilitating the exchange of letters, parcels, and documents. This day serves as a reminder of the enduring relevance of postal services in our increasingly digital world.
