Zim dancehall artist on a mission

UPCOMING Zimdancehall artist Vince Cutter has urged the ghetto youths to shun drug abuse.

Born Jack Vincent, the Chitungwiza-bred chanter said young people have normalised drug abuse, especially in areas like Chitungwiza and Mbare.

He vowed to be the voice that will help young people.

“I am a ghetto youth and I have been around people who abuse drugs.

“A lot of them ended up being homeless, murderers and some died at a very tender age.

“I decided to enlighten ghetto youths using music, to make them realise that drugs are a danger.

“Some people under the influence of drugs can become very violent to the extent of killing their relatives,” he said.

Having started his musical journey in 2013, Cutter said that his mission is to educate people through his music.

“My music is all about reflections of our daily lives.

“I am a versatile artist. Sometimes I release gospel songs with the aim of touching all aspects of life, be it social and spiritual aspects.

“That’s my calling and I have hope that people, especially the youths, will be delivered and healed through my music,” said Cutter.

Meanwhile, Cutter is set to release his singles collection titled Take It Simple, which he said is dedicated to the ghetto youths.

“The single’s collection is directed to the youths, especially those who abuse drugs.

“Most of the tracks are just educating people about drugs, effects of taking drugs and also how to get rid of drugs.

“I’m just trying my best, as an artist, to make youths realise that drugs are toxic and they kill.

“I have worked with Jah Master before and I wish to work with him in the future.

“He is one of those young artists that I admire.

“He is very content with his work and I appreciate the effort he is making in the music industry,” he said.
