The stage is set for the finals of talent search show “Zimbabwe Has Talent” to be held tomorrow at 7Arts Theatre in Avondale. The show is a multi-genre national arts contest that seeks creativity, originality, the knack of entertaining audience and the ability of combining Zimbabwe and Chinese cultures in one act. Event public relations consultant Rumbidzai Matinanga said everything is set for the show and remaining groups are holding intense rehearsals.
“All is set for the final showdown where the remaining contestants will battle it out for the prizes on offer.
“The qualified contestants are currently having intensive rehearsals at the venue to polish up their acts for the grand finale,” she said.
A wide range of performances who include a poet, bike stunts, a magician, puppet show, musicians and dancers will thrill the crowd.
Matinanga also said there are 18 finalists who will battle it out for the grand prizes.
“From the 18 acts that made it to the finals, the winner will walk away with $3 000 while the second finalist will get $1 500 and the third one will get $800 courtesy of ZLG Purified Water.
“The winner will also get an opportunity to participate at one of the Chinese festivals where he or she will also learn new skills, courtesy of the Chinese Embassy,” she said.
The audience will have a chance to be a part of the judging panel as they would be given a chance to select their best act.
The judges’ panel consists of urban grooves musicians Leonard Mapfumo and Cindy Munyavi, Star FM DJ Nikki and renowned film producer Eddie Ndhlovu while radio master Napster will be the master of ceremony for the night.
Matinanga said they were happy that they managed to scout for talent among young people in the country.
“We are grateful that so far we managed to scout for talent in young people in our country who were not recognised.
“The show seeks not only to unify local and the Chinese people but help identify talented people that could be making a living out of their gifts but have not had the opportunity for showcase,” she said.
If the thrilling semi-finals are anything to go by, then the talent search show is likely to become the top multi-genre national arts contest.
