FOUR students from Ideas Matter Academy made it into the University of Chicago High School Moot Court top 10.

The team managed to reach the quarter-finals, achieved an overall seventh position out of 10 participants, during the invitational competitions, held last weekend.
The Academy also made history by becoming the first African representatives to take part at the prestigious event which also saw Girls Academic Leadership Academy claiming first prize.
The team, made up of Rais Makahamadze, Palesa Sigauke, Matifadza Mavesere and Tendai Sithole, managed the 6th, 9th, 10th and Best Speaker Awards.
The weekend competition was a preliminary to the USA National Moot Court which the team is also set to take part in soon.
Coach Nqobile Dube is happy the students made history.

“Once again, we made history as the first African and non American team to participate and my students were the only black students in the regional round.

“We were affected by the internet blackout on Saturday but we managed to reach the quarterfinals on Sunday.
“Next up is the USA national, we shall conquer,” said Dube.
Zimbabwe are the current World Champions in Moot Court after earning the badge last year.
