ZIM Hip Hop and Afro Pop are proving their popularity as three songs from those genres reached above a million views last week.
Two Zim hip hop songs, Fire Emoji by Leo Magozz ft Bling 4 and Brian Jeck, and Silas Mavende by Saint Floew, reached over a million views on YouTube in the past week.
An Afro pop jam by Ishan and Annatoria, titled Lola, recently got a million views, within three months of its release.
The milestone reached by these three songs, from these genres, within a short period of time, is undoubtedly a proof of the growth of those genres and the local showbiz.

As the year is drawing towards the close, some have already picked these three songs as the best songs to have been released this year.
However, hip hop, soul and R&B star, Takura has proved that he is still a force to reckon with as his recent two tracks are gaining traction,
Goosebumps and Wandachuza are trending in the top three on YouTube.
The former has been number one for some time.
Goosebumps was once removed on number one by the remix of Fire Emoji but it quickly got back on top within 48-72 hours.
Ishan’s publicist, DJ Chrxn, believes Lola is the biggest song so far this year.

“It’s great that people are starting to appreciate other genres, unlike in the past, where more of the audience was fixated on Zim dancehall and sunburn, while other genres got less attention.
“The rise of Zim hip hop and Agro pop gives a balance in the local entertainment sector.
“For now, I think Lola is the biggest song this year.
“We have organic million views within three months, and the song was also a chat topper on local radio stations.
“It’s something not easy in Zimbabwe.”
