Zim hosts 22nd Africa-Nordic foreign ministers meeting

THE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, will host the 22nd Africa-Nordic Foreign Ministers Meeting in Victoria Falls, beginning on Thursday and ending on Friday.

The meeting will be held under the theme: “Leveraging Technology and Collaboration for Future-Ready Societies”.

“The high-level meeting will bring together Ministers of Foreign Affairs from across Africa, and the five Nordic countries – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden – representatives of business and private sector, young innovators and academia for a strategic dialogue to consolidate cooperation between Africa and the Nordic countries through a heightened focus on innovation, trade and investment,” Foreign Affairs and International Trade spokesperson, Mrs Philisiwe Chidawanyika, said in a statement.

The meeting will include the following key events: Africa-Nordic Business Roundtable Forum under the theme: “Sustainable Prosperity through Partnerships: Integrating Ecosystems and Derisking Business for Accelerated Growth”.

Young Innovators Forum focusing on the theme: “Youth as Catalysts for Sustainable Development: Harnessing Technology and Fostering Collaboration for Future-ready African and Nordic Societies”.

Academic Panel discussion focusing on the theme: “From Aid to Trade”.

Business Plenary Session on the theme: “Strengthening Africa-Nordic Investment and Trade Relations”; and Plenary Session on “Strengthening Multilateralism in Addressing Global Peace and Security Issues”.

Mrs Chidawanyika said Zimbabwe’s hosting of this important meeting will contribute to building strategic, mutually beneficial partnerships towards the attainment of the country’s Vision 2030 and the Africa we want.
