HAZ president Mr Tichaona Hwingwiri said hotels were fully booked for 23 to 27 December.
“This year’s festive season is very promising,” he said.
“Hotels are fully reserved and domestic tourists have contributed very well in the bookings.”
Mr Hwingwiri said local tourists had contributed 90 percent to the hotel bookings.
He said Victoria Falls had the highest number of hotel bookings followed by Nyanga and Kariba.
Mr Hwingwiri said most hotels had come up with affordable packages for locals in order to boost domestic tourism this festive season.
“They have also put up activities such as musical concerts to make hotels very exciting and attractive,” he said.
Last year, the tourism industry raked in US$800 million in revenue and registered 2,5 million international arrivals.
Tourist arrivals are this year expected to breach the 2,5 million mark on the back of improved country risk factor and aggressive marketing strategies. — New Ziana.
