Zimbabwe and India today signed an Air Services agreement that would facilitate airlines to ply the route between the two countries.
Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Obert Mpofu signed on behalf of the Zimbabwean Government while India’s diplomat here Jeitendra Kumar Tripathi represented his country.
“Today’s signing ceremony marks yet another milestone as we regularise the operation of air transport services between the two countries,” he said.
Minister Mpofu said the agreement sought to promote an international aviation system based on completion among airlines.

He said the agreement stipulated that the designated airlines of each country would be entitled to operate seven passenger or combined service per week in each direction.
Ambassador Tripathi said he was excited that the deal between the two countries on the air services agreement had come to fruition after about four years of negotiations.
Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Mr Munesu Munodawafa said Air Zimbabwe would make a business decision of whether or not to play the route.
The route, he said, would be open to private players.
