CULTURAL ties between Zimbabwe and Iran are set to deepen following a visit to the Iranian Embassy’s Cultural Centre in Harare yesterday by learners and staff from Blessed Hope Gaza Academy.

The visit is part of efforts to foster closer connections and mutual appreciation between the two nations.

Cultural Counsellor at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar, said the two countries shared common values of friendship, learning and understanding.

“From the poetry of Rumi to the intricate designs of Persian carpets, Iranian culture is a testament to the creativity and wisdom of its people. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, is a land full of rich traditions, history, and diversity, and the rhythms of its music, the vibrancy of its festivals, and the strength of its communities showcase the beauty of African culture.

“The mutual respect and curiosity we share through cultural exchange allow us to learn from one another and build bridges of understanding,” he said.

Iran offered a wealth of traditions that have shaped not only the region, but also the world.

“Today, as you visit this cultural centre, you will experience a small window into the heart of Iranian culture, just as we hope to share the wonders of Zimbabwe with the people of Iran.”

During the presentation, the visitors  treated to a captivating overview of key aspects of Iranian culture. Mr Bakhtiyar highlighted various elements, including rich traditions, intricate art forms, and significant historical milestones that define Iran’s identity.

“By learning about each other’s customs, languages, and traditions, we create stronger, more compassionate global citizens.”

Animated stories were showcased on television screens throughout the venue, engaging participants and providing a visual representation of Iranian folklore and heritage.

Blessed Hope Gaza Academy executive director, Dr Nobert Hosho, thanked the Iranian embassy for offering  such an enriching experience that emphasises unity among diverse cultures. Such events were vital for fostering understanding and respect between nations.

“Our presence here today is not just about celebrating one’s culture; it’s about standing in solidarity with all nations striving for peace and justice,” he said.

The participation of Blessed Hope Gaza Academy in this cultural exchange underscores its commitment to promoting global awareness among its learners while honouring those who have suffered injustices worldwide.

As part of their ongoing efforts to support humanitarian causes globally, Blessed Hope Gaza Academy continues to advocate for educational opportunities that empower young minds in rural Zimbabwe while fostering international friendships rooted in empathy and solidarity.

This event serves as a reminder that through cultural exchanges and mutual respect, we can build bridges across borders, uniting people from different backgrounds in pursuit of common goals.
