Team Zimbabwe of Kids Entrepreneurs made the country proud after they scooped some awards during the summit held in Gaborone last week.

The programme was courtesy of Kidspreneur Africa (AKS2024) in collaboration with Finance Kids, with a mission and purpose focused on nurturing young people into the next African Entrepreneurs.

The team which had Tanatswa Kapfura, Tamar Kunashe Muchineuta, Aiden Murambidzi, Shanelle Matanhire, and Than-dekile Langa Khumalo proved their mettle.

Team’s leader, Shalom Museba said she was impressed by the kids’ success story.

“Tamar won business pitch financial literacy against other contestants from Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Botswana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, and Uganda.

“She became number one and also got recognition as a kids’ entrepreneurs in social enterprise in Zimbabwe.

“Aiden Prince Murambidzi was given recognition as kidspreneur in creative art in Zimbabwe.

“We were awarded the best-dressed country as we were dressed in the national costume.

“It was a mind opening seminar which motivated us to better as a country in terms of supporting our kids,” she said.

Shalom said they look forward to also hosting a similar event in September.

“We look forward to having the speakers in Zimbabwe around September from Zambia.

“We need people in business to support children so that they can have more exposure.”

“Such events bring together a dynamic group of entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts to discuss challenges and opportunities facing Africa’s entrepreneurial landscape.

“We went to Botswana for this summit as a way to groom these young children to get exposure and learn from other children from other countries.

“I hope they took some notes as part of their networking.

“The other objective is to urge emerging talents to boldly take their place on the world stage, breaking down the con-straints that often limit young innovators.”

The vision of the kids’ entrepreneur summit is to inspire and empower African children aged 7-17 years to become self-starters who proactively turn their dreams into reality.

The theme for this year’s summit was ‘Maximising the potentials of the next generation of African Entrepreneurs and Leaders’.

Following the successful completion of the two Africa Kidspreneur Summits, the first virtually was on November 6, 2022, with over 200 attendees.

The second one was on August 16–18, 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya, drawing over 500 attendees and over 80 children from the seven participating countries around Africa, including Botswana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, and Uganda.
