Zim Leopards to honour players

Senior Sports Reporter
AMBITIOUS Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two side, Zim Leopards, will tomorrow night hold an End of Year Players Awards and Fundraising event meant to reward outstanding players in the just ended season. The Iminyela headquartered outfit finished the season on position four and according to the chairman, Ngoni Shumba, their target next year will be to go all the way and win the division.

“The awards will be our inaugural since the team was formed in 2007. There will be four categories, the Most Disciplined Player, the Most Promising Player, the Most Consistent Player and the Player of the Year. It’s our small way of saying thank you to the youngsters while also challenging them to do even better next year,” said Shumba.

He said their plan is to play in the Premier Soccer League in 2016.
Zim Leopards produced one of the most promising players in the land, Francesco Zvikumbawire who cut his Premiership teeth at the coal miners, Hwange FC before a hurried move to Dynamos saw him failing to make a mark there. Injuries did not help matters either and he eventually was offloaded by the Harare giants.

Several soccer personalities from the city, including the PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele, are expected to grace the awards night at Queens Sports Club.
