The motor industry in Zimbabwe has embraced the Econet ConnectedCar system which has helped in owners recover their stolen vehicles within a short period of time.
According to, Greater Harare Association of Commuter Omnibus Operators’ leadership, a leading client of the Econet ConnectedCar system, the association’s membership have taken up the vehicle tracking service and have experienced many benefits.
“We have enjoyed the benefits of this product and our executive leaders were the first to sign up for the service,” Mr Katsvairo of GHACO said.
Meanwhile, the Econet ConnectedCar recently hosted successfully the Zimbabwe Traffic Safety Board Driver of the Year competitions and awards in Bulawayo.
The awards ceremony was held early this month.
Three drivers from the GHACO won the Driver of the Year competitions taking the first, second and third positions in the Kombi category both at provincial and national levels.
The three, namely Alouis Mugariri, Bwanari Mutukula and Ronald Kutadzaushe respectively received gifts and tokens of appreciation from Econet ConnectedCar on August 6 at Econet Livingstone premises.
The drivers will proceed to the International Driver of the Year competitions and awards to be held in Finland at a date to be announced soon.
ECC chief operations Dorothy Zimuto hailed the participation of public transport operators in the drivers’ competition.
