THIRTY-TWO cattle were recovered last week following a joint operation between Zimbabwe and Mozambique to curb stock theft cases in border areas.
In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the cattle which were all stolen in the Zamuchaya area in Chipinge were recovered in Mamutse Area, Mozambique.
“The owner, a resident of Mufukwa Village, Chipinge, has positively identified the cattle,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
He also confirmed the recovery of an assortment of mining equipment that included wheelbarrows, shovels, submersible pumps, hammer mills, water pumps, and solar panels following an arrest of 90 suspected illegal miners along Mutare River in Penhalonga on July 9 and 12.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police will continue to collaborate with Mozambican authorities in tackling cross-border crimes.
“Above all, Police will ensure the law takes its course on anyone engaging in illegal mining activities under the guise of mining syndicates or groups,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
