The country has started receiving rains, but they do not signify the onset of the rainfall season. In a statement yesterday, the Meteorological Services Department said some areas had received significant amounts of rain. Rusape received 30mm, Mutare 28mm, Nyanga 25mm, Buhera 12mm and Chisengu 7mm.

“Moist air moved into Zimbabwe from Botswana and South Africa as forecast and expected to bring in cloudy and rainy weather initially in all Matabeleland provinces and covering the entire country by yesterday,” said MSD. The country is expected to receive normal to above normal rains during the 2016/17 season and this is favourable for farming.
