Zim records 3 more Covid-19 deaths, 121 new cases

ZIMBABWE has recorded three more Covid-19 related deaths and 121 new cases in the last 24-hour cycle, bringing the total number of cases to 10 839.

The three deaths were recorded in Bulawayo, Harare and Masvingo. So far, the total number of people who succumbed to the deadly virus now stands at 294 while the national recovery rate stands at 82,8 percent.

A total of 1 270 PCR tests were conducted on Monday and positivity was 9,5 percent. According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, the 121 new cases are local cases with the highest number of 74 cases having been reported in Matabeleland North province. Bulawayo recorded 32 new cases while Masvingo province recorded the least with one case.

“As of December 7, 2020 Zimbabwe has now recorded 10 839 confirmed cases, 8 972 recoveries and 294 deaths,” reads the statement.

“Ninety-two new recoveries were reported and the national recovery rate stands at 82,8 percent and active case go up to 1 573 today.”

So far, Bulawayo province has recorded 2 605 cases, 1 942 recoveries, 579 active cases and 83 deaths while Matabeleland South province has recorded 1 159 cases, 888 recoveries, 259 active cases and nine deaths. Matabeleland North has 446 cases, 336 recoveries, 107 active cases and three deaths
