ZIMBABWE and Russia are today celebrating the 45th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Harare and Moscow, with the two countries’ Foreign Ministers, in an exchange of congratulatory messages, committing to a further deepening of cooperation between the two sovereign states.
Russia opened its Embassy in Harare on February 18, 1981.
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira and his counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, praised the existing political dialogue at various levels between the two countries.
They also confirmed the commitment of Harare and Moscow to a further deepening of cooperation in the spheres of trade, economy and investment, science and education, cultural and humanitarian fields, among others.
The duo also emphasised the determination of Zimbabwe and Russia to expand their cooperation in the international arena in the spirit of solidarity and mutual support for the benefit of the people of both countries.
Both Zimbabwe and Russia will continue to work in the interests of ensuring security on the African continent in accordance with the objectives and principles of the United Nations (UN) Charter, the two Ministers said.
