Zim Saints resume campaign

FORMER Premiership side Zimbabwe Saints are expected to resume their campaign in the Southern Region Division One Soccer League this coming weekend after missing their last two games in the past weeks as they had not paid their affiliation fees. The former Premiership giants were scheduled to take on Mpumalanga over the weekend, but the match was postponed to a date yet to be announced because they had not paid their dues for this season.

However, Zifa Southern Region fixtures secretary Jabulani Chinyangarara said the club will resume their matches this week after making some payments to the association.

“Zim Saints have not played their past two games. They were owing some monies, they had not paid their affiliation fee so we stopped them from playing so that they can show commitment.

“They have since paid something to our offices, but by the time they made the payment we had already postponed the match,” said Chinyangarara.
The match between New West and Ntabazinduna was also postponed after the latter requested that the encounter be moved to a later date as they had a pass out parade the day before the game.

Both matches are likely to be played this weekend.
In matches played, log leaders Plumtree Chiefs beat Elephant FC 1-0 to maintain their pole position on the log tables while second-placed Technosphere also had a good day in the office as they dismissed Old Nic Mine 2-0 to collect maximum points.

In the Eastern Region, Buffalo Junior FC beat Tenax 2-1 to take the lead on the table on goal difference as second placed Eastern Stars have the same number of points.

Eastern Stars beat Mutare Poly 3-1 over the weekend.
