Log leaders Bantu Rovers clung to the top of the log despite a goalless draw away to Railstars.
The Chikwata goals came from their Binga prodigy Newman Sianchali who notched his fifth goal in six matches, Shywell Moyo, as well as new acquisition Rashid Kanyenze.
Edmore Sibanda, the Saints coach, said his team’s performance was improving everyday and hoped they would continue with their form.
“The team has picked up their form and we are happy with how they are playing as they are picking up points and we are slowly climbing up the ladder. The team is now scoring which is a good thing and Sianchali has been a revelation.
“The team was great and we are happy and looking forward to our next game,” Sibanda said.
Meanwhile, former Highlanders skipper and FC Platinum defender Gilbert Banda failed to make the starting line-up when his new team Bantu picked up a point at Raylton on Saturday.
How Mine, who were second on the standings, dropped to third place behind ZPC Hwange after they were shocked 2-1 by Mpumalanga in Hwange on Saturday although they still have a game in hand.
“Our matches against Railstars are always tough and I think on Saturday we were evenly balanced just like our first fixture which ended with the same scoreline but we had a good game.
“Banda did not play but I am sure he will play next weekend as the coach wanted to try out our Under-18 defenders who did extremely well,” said Bantu secretary general Wilbert Sibanda.
Tshintsha Guluva’s young back four was made of 17 year-olds Teenage Hadebe and Velile Siziba as well as 18-year-olds Obedience Siwela and Benson Phiri.
Railstars now occupy fourth slot on the log.
