ZIMBABWE and Serbia will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding to open a new chapter in their relations and explore new areas of cooperation.
Serbian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Radisa Grujic met Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe today to discuss areas of cooperation.
The two indicated that they agreed on the MoU and were looking forward to cooperating in human capital development, education, policing and traffic management.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister Kazembe said they agreed to start work towards the signing of an MoU, with paperwork already in process.
“We are looking forward to reigniting that relationship. We have agreed that we should start the paperwork, which will lead to the signing of an MoU,” he said.
“And our objective is to cooperate in various areas, areas of fighting against, they also have drug issues, everyone has drug issues the world over.
“And as you would appreciate, as a country we are doing our utmost to fight against the drug menace. I am sure there is a lot that we can share, we can learn from each other. We have also agreed to look at the possibility of working together in the field of policing, you know, traffic management, you know, and all those things.
“The fight against terrorism, we need to be prepared for such eventualities, and there’s a lot that we can learn from them.”
Ambassador Grujic also said: “For me, it is of the most importance also to be publicly visible and to promote my country, and for me, it’s also a special honour and privilege to talk with the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage and to propose to him to open a new page of the cooperation.”
