Zim team for Quad bowls named

BOWLS Zimbabwe have announced a 12-member squad for the Quadrangular Bowling Series to be held in Namibia at the end of the month.The Series has been set for October 31 to November 2 in Windhoek.

This will be Zimbabwe’s first appearance at the tournament.

South Africa are expected to feature, using their national senior and junior sides, joining hosts Namibia.

Bowls veteran Denis Streak will play the Fours with the experienced Tom Craven, Masters champion Jono Evans and Clubs Champion of Champions Clive Robertson.

The Trips will see Craven, Robertson and Terry Bowes representing the country.

The Pairs team will have Streak and Evans while the Singles competition will be represented by Bowes.

The Zimbabwe men’s team has two reserves — Mark Fieldus and Mike Eaton.

“I feel it is going to be a very tough competition,” Streak, who will be the Skip, said.

“The competition features some of the top teams in Africa but we are going to give it our best shot. We did well at Africa States tournament in Botswana recently and we are hoping we can do well again in the Series.”

Bowls queen Kerry Craven will lead a team that also features Silva Kendal-Ball, the talented Heather Singleton, Ally Dale and Jane Rigby.
