Zim to host National Day in Italy

ZIMBABWE is set to hold its National Day in Milan, Italy at the end of the month at the Expo Milano which has been running since 1 May and will end on 31 October.

An official involved in the event said the National Day would be held on 31 August and was being co-ordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce with the support of other Government ministries and agencies.

More than 140 countries have been taking part in the universal exhibition that seeks to show the best of technology that offers a concrete answer to a vital need being able to guarantee healthy, safe and sufficient food for everyone, while respecting the planet and its equilibrium.

Organisers said in addition to exhibitor nations, the Expo also involved international organisations, and expected to welcome over 20 million visitors to its 1,1 million square metres of exhibition area.

“A platform for the exchange of ideas and shared solutions on the theme of ‘food, stimulating each country’s creativity and promoting innovation for a sustainable future’, Expo 2015 will give everyone the opportunity to find out about, and taste, the world’s best dishes, while discovering the best of the agri-food and gastronomic traditions of each of the exhibitor countries,” organisers of the event said.

Agriculture is considered as the anchor to Zimbabwe’s economy and Government has been working towards improving the sector through numerous support.
