An inter-religious dialogue conference will be held in Harare next week to promote peace, tolerance and co-operation among different religions.
Conference co-ordinator Reverend Mathias Tsine told journalists in the capital that the conference hosted by the Inter-Religious Dialogue and the Centre for Inter-Religious Dialogue of Iran sought to bring together religious leaders from Zimbabwe and five other African countries to advance peace and development.
“The confusion and fear bred by intolerance and violence in the world today makes the dialogue among religions even more necessary and urgent. As a result, people are now focusing more on what differentiates, while overlooking the common values that unite them.”
The conference, which will run under the theme “Inter-Religious Dialogue, Development and Peaceful Co-existence” will explore various religious topics including giving academic perspectives on global trends on inter-religious issues and the role of religion in conflict management.
