Zim to play host to African Triathlon Cup

THE Zimbabwe Triathlon Federation will play host to the African Triathlon Cup at Troutbeck Inn in Nyanga on Saturday. ZTF secretary-general Joy Higgins said the event would incorporate the national triathlon championships. The 4th Troutbeck Mile Open water swim would also take place on the same day. The local body is expecting a strong field of 120 athletes.

“We’re expecting at least 10 countries to participate in the African Cup Championship in the elite men and women’s categories from South Africa, Namibia, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Brazil, Mauritius, Czech Republic and possibly Kazakhstan,” she said.

The categories will cover the elite standard distance comprising 1,500M swim, 40km cycle and 10km run, the juniors men and women age-groups 16-17 and 18-19, 750m swim, 20KM swim and 5km.
