ZIMBABWE will take part in the zonal qualifiers for the 2014 FIVB World Championships phase in Malawi next month.
This was confirmed by the organisation’s president Frederick Ndlovu yesterday. He said they would send both the men and women’s teams and was hopeful that they would do well in the competition.
“We will be participating in the event. We are hopeful that we will do well with both the men and women’s teams,” said Ndlovu.
Zonal champions and runners-up will qualify for the final qualifiers whose dates and venue are yet to be confirmed.
The July zonal championships will see the Confederation of African Volleyball play host to such competitions for the first time in countries like Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Chad and Malawi.
In all they will be 10 groups involved in the preliminaries.
Algeria plays host to the Men’s Group A qualification between 27- 31 July while Tunisia hosts the women’s qualifiers.
According to Tarek Al-Adwar the CAVB press officer 30 men and women’s teams will qualify for the next stage.
The 2014 Men’s World Championships will be held in Poland.
