DYNAMICS Gym’s young bodybuilder Courage Ganyiwa says he wants to end Harare’s dominance in the sport.
The 20-year-old bodybuilder competes in the junior category and has been working out for the past three years building up his body for the grand occasion.
He trains under the watchful eye of one the city’s top bodybuilders and former Mr Muscle and Fitness and Mr Pro Fitness Open in the junior category, Peter Wenceslaus.
Full of confidence and pumped up, Ganyiwa believes the time has come for bodybuilders from Bulawayo to show their mettle and take their rightful place among the sport’s luminaries.
What makes this young man think that he can conquer where others before him have tried and failed?
Ganyiwa says his predecessors have been making countless mistakes and he is out to make a change by bringing a new order where the junior titles will have a permanent base in Bulawayo.
‘‘I am quite aware that we have not been doing well as a region both in the junior and senior categories. This is about to change since I am carrying the hopes of a city starved of success in the sport. I have been working out for the past three years building up my body. Now I feel I am in good shape and can win something for the city,’’ said Ganyiwa.
When pressed further why he is so confident yet he has not taken part in any competition for the past three years he has been training, Ganyiwa said he was now confident and ready to compete.
‘‘I lacked confidence since I could not believe in myself but it is now history because the secret to success lies in me. Bodybuilding is not about spending the whole day in the gym but it is about the amount of work you put in. Most youngsters lack the knowledge and guidance yet they expect miraculous results overnight which is outrageous. I am lucky because I am surrounded by experienced guys who have been in the sport for a long time,’’ he said.
Ganyiwa will be taking part in the annual MuscleMania competition to be held in Kadoma in August and this will present him with a perfect platform to test his prowess against some of the country’s best juniors.
‘‘I am ready and between now and August I will have developed well defined features because I am doing everything right. I have been monitoring my diet of late and it is only a matter of time before I announce my arrival with a bang,’’ he said.
Bulawayo should brace for a young man who is on a mission to change the face of bodybuilding in the city and the country at large.
