Zim-Turkey to broaden cooperation

Zimbabwe and Turkey must broaden economic and trade cooperation to complement existing strong political relations between Harare and Ankara.

This was said by Turkish Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mrs Berna Kasnakli Versterden after paying a courtesy call on Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, on Tuesday.

In an interview after the meeting at Parliament building, Ambassador Versterden emphasised the need to strengthen trade and parliamentary relations between the two countries.

“The meeting was aimed at deepening bilateral trade and investment relations for mutual cooperation between the two countries,” she said.

The meeting, she added, provided a basis for broadening Zimbabwe-Turkey business connections and partnership for the mutual benefit.

“We are yet to finalise on a few papers that we have and then investors from Turkey will come in and do business with Zimbabwe,” she said.

“Zimbabweans in Turkey are very safe and living harmoniously with no official complaints of abuse lodged with the embassy so far.”
