Zima slashes ticket prices

ORGANISERS of the Zimbabwe Music Awards have reduced ticket prices by almost 50 percent to allow for the majority of music lovers to attend the red carpet event scheduled for the Harare International Conference Centre on Wednesday.
Zima marketing and public relations executive Farai Chapoterera said the ticket prices should not be a deterrent for fans attending the event.

“This can’t be a national event if the nation isn’t able to attend. We, therefore, heeded a call by the public and have slashed ticket prices for the event. If a person is in Harare or can travel to Harare, we want them to be part of this journey with us. Cost shouldn’t be an issue,” Chapotera said.

She said they hoped that the news would be received with much excitement by music lovers across the country.
The $75 ticket will now go for $50 while the $60 ticket will now be sold at $30. The $50 ticket will now go for $20 and the $35 ticket will now go for $15. However, the lowest ticket will be sold for $10.

Meanwhile, the star-studded line-up of performers will include the internationally acclaimed band, Mokoomba.
The award-winning group were nominated in the Best Traditional Music Category and will entertain the audience at the awards show.

Initially, Mokoomba were not part of the performing line-up before the postponement. However, it has emerged that they will be available on the new date. Many Zimbabweans have heard of Mokoomba, but because of their heavy touring schedule local fans have not had the opportunity to watch them performing live.

Mokoomba will join a long list of top rated performers billed to grace the event including the famed Afrika Revenge and Soul Jah Love. The Zimas are set to be the biggest event on the entertainment calendar. This year’s awards will be graced by South African Idols judge Randall Abrahams who will present an award.
