Zimasco to fix Kwekwe roads

Zimasco has pledged to support Kwekwe City Council in road rehabilitation.

Addressing delegates during a Kwekwe Expo Business Conference last week, Zimasco chief executive Mr John Musekiwa, who was the guest of honour, said his company was in the process of acquiring a refuse collection truck that will be donated to the local authority as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Mr Musekiwa, however, said while road rehabilitation was a long-term plan, the company had budgeted for wellness under its corporate social responsibility budget hence the purchase of the refuse truck.

“As you know companies work on budgets. We are putting the budget towards wellness that is why we are rehabilitating Kwekwe General Hospital and taking part in the clean-up campaigns,” he said.

“We have also donated a number of bins to the council so that we do not only burn the rubbish, but we totally dispose it.

“Currently we are in the process of purchasing a refuse collection truck that we will donate to the council and as our finances improve, we will also look at how we can assist on the rehabilitation of the said roads,” said Mr Musekiwa.

He said there was need for stakeholders to work together on improvement of infrastructure in the mining town.

Mr Musekiwa said the company’s success story was hinged on being a good neighbour that is concerned with the welfare of the communities in which they operate.

“As a result throughout many decades of operation, we have always demonstrated our corporate citizenship through actively supporting business operating within our community with special emphasis on indigenous players in forming relationships, Zimasco believes its operations are contributing to the betterment of life for many,” he said.
