ZIMBABWE is set to showcase a comprehensive Whole-of-Government approach to driving the regional clean energy agenda, featuring high-level participation from multiple key ministries at the ongoing 2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week in Victoria Falls this week.

Minister of Energy and Power Development, July Moyo, revealed the whole-of-government strategy during a press conference on Sunday, outlining the extensive involvement of various Government portfolios in the week-long indaba.

“The way we have organised it, we expect that our Minister of Tourism will lead the cultural gala linking energy to gastronomy, where we are doing well as a nation led by our First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa.

“The Minister of Environment, responsible for Zimparks, will lead a sponsored segment taking delegates into the Victoria Falls, while the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa is expected to deliver a keynote address at a dedicated session on women in energy,” said Minister Moyo.

The integrated approach will be on full display throughout the programme.

On the official opening day, Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga will stand in for President Mnangagwa.

He will be followed by a high-level ministerial segment where ministers will deliberate on policy synergies.

Zimbabwe will present progress on its Energy Compact, demonstrating its alignment with Vision 2030.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Power Development, Yeukai Simbanegavi, is scheduled to deliver addresses, while Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Dr Eng Caleb Makwiranzou, will feature in a session on critical minerals and green hydrogen later in the week.

Minister Moyo emphasised that while Zimbabwe is showcasing its national strategy, the core objective remains regional integration.

“Whenever we are talking about our domestic energy development, we must interconnect in Southern Africa,” he said, adding that the Southern African Power Pool remains the centrepiece for regional interconnections.

The event, running until Friday, will also feature technical site visits, a cultural dinner and an awards ceremony, cementing Victoria Falls as the epicentre of regional energy dialogue.
