PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has left Nairobi for Harare after attending the 24th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa Summit where Zimbabwe assumed the vice chairmaship of COMESA, taking a front‑row seat to shape the bloc’s agenda and steer
regional integration efforts from 2026 to 2027.
He used the platform to push for “open for business” reforms, announcing sweeping cuts to bank charges, licensing fees and levies to boost the ease of doing business among COMESA member states.
He also highlighted that Zimbabwean firms now enjoy broader regional market access.
The President added that thousands of small‑scale traders—especially women—are benefitting from smoother cross‑border commerce, while COMESA support is strengthening local value chains.
