ZIMBABWE female athletes had a great weekend excelling on both track and road on the international scene.
Nobukhosi Tshuma, drew the sympathies of a worldwide audience when she completed the Two Oceans Marathon’s final 10m on her fours.
She finished third with a time of 3 hours 38 minutes 34 seconds in a race won by South African road queen Gerda Steyn in 3 hours 27 minutes 43 seconds.

Running the last 50m with wobbly legs, Tshuma had fans watching at the finishing point and on television holding their breath as she went down on the turf and crawled up to the end as an ambulance crew rushed over with a stretcher to fetch her.
In the same race Loveness Madzviva was 10th in 3 hours 48 minutes 54 seconds. Seasoned marathon runner Fortunate Chidzivo was second in the 21.1km event.
Meanwhile in the United States Ashley Miller set a new national record in the 100m hurdles when she ran the event in 12.92 seconds bettering her season’s best run last week of 13.25 seconds as the race to Ghana hots up.
The Senior African Track and Field Championships will be held in Ghana next month and she is in prime position to represent the country in both the 100 and 400m hurdles.
Vimbai Maisvorewa did well too to improve her time from 51.80 seconds in the 400m to 51.66 the world’s 47th best of the year.
