The Ministry of Health and Child Care in collaboration with the Stop TB Partnership Zimbabwe convened the country’s first national Tuberculosis (TB) conference on Wednesday .

The three-day event, themed “Advancing multisectoral accountability and community engagement to end TB in Zimbabwe,” marked a significant step in the country’s efforts to combat one of its most pressing public health challenges.

Zimbabwe is currently ranked among the top 30 countries globally burdened by TB, TB/HIV co-infections, and multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB).
An estimated 35 000 people fall ill with TB annually in Zimbabwe, with men aged 25 to 44—the country’s most economically productive group—bearing the brunt of the disease.
The conference brings together a diverse range of delegates, from the Government, affected communities, civil society organisations, community advocates, and international partners underscoring the importance of a multisectoral approach in addressing the TB crisis.
