Zimbabweans living in the Middle East have been urged to register their presence with the country’s nearest Embassy or Consulate in that region to enable Government to facilitate adequate assistance following security challenges after last week’s US-Israeli military strikes on Iran.

Foreign Affairs and International Trade spokesperson, Mrs Philisiwe Chidawanyika, said Zimbabweans who had also travelled to the region should also notify of their presence, urging both groups to limit their movements in line with regulations issued by host countries.

“The Government of Zimbabwe is fully committed to promoting, protecting and safeguarding the safety and welfare of its citizens living abroad.

Zimbabweans living or who had travelled to the affected region are urged to register their presence in the region with the nearest embassy and or consulate of the Republic of Zimbabwe,” Mrs Chidawanyika said.

She urged Zimbabweans to register with officials in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait and Saudi Arabia while urging those who want to travel to the region to delay their plans until the security situation stabilises.

“Citizens who may require urgent assistance due to the developments in the region are advised to contact the Ministry on [email protected] and +263 242 794 681/5 or the following Zimbabwean Embassies/Consulate: Abu Dhabi, UAE +97126222088, [email protected], [email protected]; Kuwait City, Kuwait +96541012318, [email protected],” she added.

Other contacts include, +966552020579 or +966533975317 and [email protected] for those in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and +97142726823 or +97143341700 and [email protected] or [email protected] for those in Dubai.

Section 35 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe states that all Zimbabwean citizens are entitled to several rights and benefits, including the protection granted by the State wherever they may be.

The situation in the Middle East has intensified as the United States and Israel conducted multiple strikes across Iran, including in the capital, Tehran. The attacks were described by US President Donald Trump as “major combat operations.”

Iran responded by launching strikes on Israel and US bases in the region, further escalating the conflict. Reports indicate that a series of explosions occurred in Tehran, with missile strikes hitting significant locations, including areas near Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps headquarters.

As tensions rise, Iran has continued to retaliate, launching missiles at various US military locations throughout the region, signalling the potential for further escalation in this ongoing conflict.
