A ZIMBABWEAN delegation led by Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Advocate Misheck Mugadza joined Mozambican citizens today in commemorating the country’s 49th Independence Day.

According to the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, the festivities occurred at Samora Machel Square in Chimoio.

After a prolonged armed struggle, Mozambique officially gained independence from Portugal on June 25, 1975. The event marked an important milestone in the nation’s history and highlighted the close ties between Mozambique and its neighbour Zimbabwe. Both countries have worked to strengthen diplomatic and economic cooperation since Mozambique’s independence nearly five decades ago.
