Zimbabwe has reiterated its commitment to strengthening trade and economic cooperation with South Korea.
Speaking at the 2024 Korea Festival, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Deputy Minister Sheillah Chikomo expressed optimism about the Bilateral Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement (BIPPA) that has boosted investor confidence in South Korea.
Government officials, diplomats, and business leaders attended the festival. It showcased the potential for expanded trade and economic partnerships.
Deputy Minister Chikomo encouraged more South Korean businesses to invest in sectors such as agriculture, energy, ICT, infrastructure, mining, and tourism sectors.

“I am pleased to note that at the 2024 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, Korean businesses, through KOTRA (Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency), participated alongside other businesses from around the world,” she said.
“It is in that same spirit that I wish to encourage more Korean business people to explore investment opportunities in agriculture, energy generation, ICT and AI, infrastructure development, mining, and tourism.”
Beyond economic ties, Zimbabwe and South Korea aim to strengthen people-to-people exchanges through cultural visits and collaborations.

Deputy Minister Chikomo emphasised the importance of mutual support for a harmonious and prosperous world.
Ambassador of South Korea to Zimbabwe Jae Kyung Park highlighted the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“For the past three decades, our two countries have developed friendly and cordial relations. And now we are starting a new chapter in bilateral ties towards more strengthened partnerships.”
The Korea Festival featured performances and displays of Korean products, including cosmetics, food, and automobiles.
