Zimbabwe marks World Post Day

ZIMBABWE is on Monday hosting the commemorations of the World Post Day at Nyamandlovu Centre, in Matabeleland North where hundreds of people have started to gather.

The event is being held under the theme “Post for People: Local service, Global Reach”.

ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera is expected to give the official remarks at the event where she is accompanied by ICT Deputy Minister Dingumuzi Phuti, ICT permanent secretary Dr Beulah Chirume among other Ministry officials.

Also present at the event is Potraz director general Dr Gift Machengete, Potraz deputy director general Mr Alfred Marisa, Zimpost post master general Mr Maxwell Chitendeni, Potraz officials, Zimpost officials among other officials from various ICT stakeholders.

 

At the event, schools which excelled at the 54th UPU International Letter Writing competition will receive prizes of computers, printers, certificates and shields. These are namely Chikangweli High School (position one), Dotito High School (position two) and Mutare Gurls High School (position three).

A number of community members are set to receive early Christmas gift hampers in form of mealie meal, sugar, rice, cooking oil, tea leaves, drink, matemba, sugar and flour among other products.
