Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency selects households for budget survey

The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) is selecting households to be covered in the Household Budget Survey, which is used to measure consumer price index weights, poverty prevalence and informal sector contribution to the Gross Domestic Product.

The exercise began on Wednesday this week and runs up to Friday next week.

ZIMSTAT said the information collected during the listing of households includes status of residential and non-residential structures, occupation status of dwellings, number of households in a structure, and names of heads of households.

“The HBS which is conducted under the Census and Statistics Act, provides data on consumer price index weights, poverty prevalence, and the contribution of the informal sector to the Gross Domestic Product,” ZIMSTAT said.

“This data is used to inform policy and decision making among other key uses.

“The listing will be conducted in all provinces and the information collected is strictly confidential and will be used for statistical purposes only.”

Appealing for cooperation from all household, ZIMSTAT said its field officers will be carrying official letters and personal Identity cards for easy identification and anyone in doubt can conduct its provincial offices. —  New Ziana
