ZIMBABWE is on the cusp of a new era as we prepare to assume the chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) under the visionary leadership of President Mnangagwa.
Speaking on stability in the SADC region, Zanu PF Youth League deputy secretary for commissariat, Cde Taurai Kandishaya said President Mnangagwa’s leadership has been transformative, demonstrating a proactive approach to addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate change.
Cde Kadishaya said under the President’s stewardship, Zimbabwe has shown unwavering commitment to tackling climate issues head-on.
“His leadership has been marked by decisive actions and a clear understanding of the urgency required to address climate change,” he said.
“The President’s open-door policy ensures that all voices are heard and that collaborative solutions are pursued with transparency and inclusivity. With President Mnangagwa at the helm, we can be confident that SADC’s climate response will be both robust and innovative.
“His leadership has already set a precedent with forward-thinking initiatives such as the Batoka Gorge Hydroelectric Project and the Pfumvudza climate-smart agriculture program. These projects not only advance sustainable development but also showcase Zimbabwe’s dedication to fostering regional cooperation and resilience.”
Cde Kandishaya said as the nation looks forward to the upcoming SADC Summit, Zimbabwe’s leadership, guided by President Mnangagwa, will be pivotal in shaping the country’s collective approach to climate action.
“This Summit will be an opportunity to share best practices, enhance regional cooperation, and drive innovative solutions across energy, agriculture and water management.”
