Zimbabwe on top at Cossasa Games

Zimbabwe amassed a total of 73 medals to wrap up the Cossasa Games Track and Field Championships at Setsoto Stadium yesterday.
The country started firmly, having assumed the pole position on the table and Lovejoy Mapfumo anchored the Under-17 boys team to gold in the final event of the competition, the medley relay in which he ran the last leg the 400m which they won comfortably.

That took the country’s tally to 28 gold, 28 silver and 17 bronze. Namibia ended with17 gold, 17 silver and 24 bronze medals. Lesotho amassed a paltry five gold, as many silver and six bronze medals. Zimbabwe’s victory came at the back of solid performances in sprints, middle distances, relays, jumps and relays.
