Zimbabwe Open Champs build-up starts today

THE build-up for the 2023 FBC Zimbabwe Open Golf Championship starts today ahead of the start of the much anticipated event which will take place at Royal Harare Golf Club in the capital.

The flagship golf tournament will be from May 4 to 7 and is set to feature golfers from around the Southern African region.

The official launch and course handover is today at 1830hrs.

Yesterday, the official practice round started while the pre-qualifier starts today. The prize money for the event is flagged at R2 200 000. Round one will be a two tee start with 156 players in morning and afternoon fields.

The second round, will also be a two tee start in morning and afternoon fields while round three, which will be on Saturday will be a one tee start for the top 60 and ties only and the final round on Sunday will be a one tee start as well.

The Zimbabwe Open has since 1986 been won by three Zimbabweans Anderson Rusike, an amateur at the time of his victory, Nick Price and Mark McNulty.

Last year, South Africa’s Albert Venter won the FBC Zimbabwe Open Golf Championship to record his maiden Sunshine Tour victory.
