BPS Assistant Commissioner Near Bagali also expressed gratitude for the existing security relations between Zimbabwe and Botswana.

“Botswana Police Service would like to profoundly thank the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) for their unwavering commitment to combating cross-border and transnational organised crime,” he said.

“This case has demonstrated the true spirit and testament of excellent bilateral relations between the two neighbours.”

BPS Asst Comm Bagali said the Toyota Hilux GD6 was recovered on Monday.

“The security cooperation between the Botswana Police Service (BPS) and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) continues to yield positive results,” he said.

“In the early hours of (01/05/2025), when the owner of a Toyota Hilux GD6, valued at over P590 000, was in distress after three unknown men robbed her and stole it at Matsiloje Village, the BPS embarked on investigations to locate it and arrest the perpetrators.

“Acting on information that it might have crossed into the Republic of Zimbabwe, they promptly shared information with their counterparts and a joint investigation ensued. Following an intensive search, ZRP successfully recovered the vehicle in Figtree, Zimbabwe.”

BPS Asst Comm Bagali indicated that they, in collaboration with ZRP, are still pursuing the armed robbers.

“The two security organs are currently in hot pursuit of the criminals still at large, while plans are underway to return the vehicle to Botswana,” he said.
