THE Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency says the country’s population has grown 16,2 percent to 15 million.

Announcing preliminary findings from the country’s latest census, ZimStat director-general, Mr Taguma Mahonde, said as at April 21, 2022, the country’s population stood at 15 178 979.

Of the figure, 7 289 558 were male, while 7 889 421 were female.

In 2012, the country’s population stood at 13 061 239.

Mr Mahonde said ZimStat used what they termed de-facto method of census, where foreign-based Zimbabweans were not enumerated, but those who had visited the country were counted.

According to Mr Mahonde, the findings may change in the compilation of the final report, but the changes will not be significant.

Zimstat promised to share findings from each pillar at separate occasions.
