ZIMBABWE School of Mines is set to host a golf tournament tomorrow at Bulawayo Country Club as they are looking at retooling of the institution’s laboratories.

The one-day tournament is set to run from 0600 till late and the guest of honour will be the managing director of Zimplats, Stanley John Segula. The format of the championship is four ball, better ball.

In this format, a team of two golfers each play their own ball. The teammate with the lower score on each hole provides that team’s score for that hole hence the name as the better score of the pair is counted each time.

Tournament director, Siphathisiwe Maisiri said they are looking forward to the tournament as they have had many players registering to take part in the fundraising event that will also serve as a good networking platform for participants.

“Preparations are going very well, we have had plus or minus 92 players registering and some are still to come through,” said Maisiri. She added that a lot of equipment is needed for their laboratories since a lot of practicals take place thus the idea of hosting the tournament. Registration for the event is pegged at US$50 per person and there will be prizes to be won.

In the following week, Bulawayo Country Club will also play hosts to the Mutupo-Isibongo tournament that is scheduled for 29 April. The championship is set to feature different golfers from different backgrounds as they have incorporated Zodiac signs. – @brandon_malvin
