Zimbabwe secures ICC T20 World Cup Super 8 spot

Zimbabwe has secured a spot in the last eight of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup following the abandonment of their third group match against Ireland this afternoon.

The match was abandoned due to persistent rain at Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

After the match was abandoned, Zimbabwe and Ireland shared the spoils, with each team getting one point.

Zimbabwe had already won two matches at the World Cup, and this saw Zimbabwe move to five points, thereby securing a spot in the Super 8.

Zimbabwe has been paired with India, South Africa and West Indies in the Super 8.
