ZIMBABWE is set to host a digital summit in Victoria Falls next month, which would bring together players from the public and private sectors to discuss how technology can be used to advance development.

The Africa Is Digital Summit will be held from February 1-3 and is expected to attract local and international delegates. It will run under the theme: “Into the future, together”.

One of the conference organisers, Ms Aurra Kawanzaruwa, who runs a Harare headquartered AfriDigital, said the conference will bring various economic players to unpack the importance of technology in development.

“The summit aims to firstly define and understand the digital trends in 2024 that are most relevant to Africa and Zimbabwe, especially in relation to the rest of the world. It aims to connect local and global markets by facilitating an exchange between international players and local innovators through meaningful and practical dialogue,” she said.

“The summit will map out opportunities for collaboration between the sectors of education, tech and innovation, arts and culture, and social development,” said Ms Kawanzaruwa.

She said the summit is targeting to harness young minds who can innovate and address national issues, reiterating the need for Zimbabwe and the continent to leverage on the youthful population and national resources to advance the development agenda.

“By facilitating dialogue and knowledge transfer between native and international players in these critical sectors, we will be able to drive tangible progress towards a more sustainable and innovative Africa,” she said.

“It is important that this conversation involves young people between the ages of 18 and 35 as the future of Africa is in the hands of the youth,” said Ms Kawanzarura.

She called on individuals and organisations to participate in the summit, which will bring global presenters as they unpack the opportunities that come with online presence.
