THE Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has launched a search for a new substantive Chief Executive Officer, a strategic leadership position expected to spearhead the country’s vision of becoming a competitive, sustainable and globally recognised tourism destination.
Mr William Stima is holding fort as the acting Chief Executive Officer, following the departure of Ms Winnie Muchanyuka last year.
In a notice, ZTA said the incoming CEO will be expected to lead the authority’s destination marketing efforts, align ZTA strategies with national tourism and economic priorities and champion Zimbabwe’s brand across global tourism platforms.
According to the Authority, the ideal candidate must be “a strategic thinker with strong leadership and communication skills, deep knowledge of global tourism and emerging markets, and committed to innovation, collaboration and excellence in public service.”
The ZTA added that tourism infrastructure development and digital transformation would be high on the agenda, with the incoming executive expected to drive innovation and enhance the sector’s competitiveness.
Tourism remains a vital pillar of Zimbabwe’s economy, contributing approximately 12 percent to the country’s Gross
Domestic Product (GDP) and serving as a major source of foreign currency earnings.
Zimbabwe is globally renowned for its rich and diverse tourism offering, which includes iconic natural wonders, a vibrant cultural heritage, and a wide array of adventure experiences for local and international visitors.
