Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has officially opened the Government Experience Exchange workshop in Harare where Zimbabwe is expecting to walk away with international best governance practices from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The workshop comes at a time when Zimbabwe and the UAE continue to strengthen bilateral relations for the benefit of their two nations.
Zimbabwe is hoping to tap from the UAE example which has seen the Arab nation grow into a first world country with one of the most resilient and sustainable economies in the world.
VP Chiwenga said the workshop is coming at the most opportune time when key Government structures have been established and appointments made.
He said what is now left is to galvanise action of the entire public sector towards the accelerated attainment of Vision 2030 targets much earlier than projected.
“Under the Government Experience Exchange Programme, Zimbabwe has agreed to focus on nine area of reforms. These are known as work-streams, which should be able to strengthen the capacities of our systems, processes and personnel in executing the agenda under the National Development Strategy 1: 2021-2025 (NDS1) and other successor blueprints,” said VP Chiwenga.
“The nine focal areas of reform are Government services, accelerators, excellence, leadership and capacity building, ICT skills development, human resources, competitiveness and statistics, strategy and innovation, and performance and national agenda.
“Honourable Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Permanent Secretaries, let us take this workshop seriously so that we learn, share experiences and best practices on topics to be presented, which as I have alluded to earlier on, are critical enablers for the accelerated implementation of Vision 2030.
“In view of the seriousness President Mnangagwa is attaching to this workshop, he expects full participation by all the top leadership of Government who are here,” said VP Chiwenga.
