THE Zimbabwe Cricket Under-25 team proved too strong for Bulawayo Metropolitan Cricket Association (BMCA) Select side, beating them by 230 runs in a one-day match at Queens Sports Club yesterday.

Led by a century from Wessly Madhevere and a five-wicket haul from Priviledge Chesa, the Under-25s dominated the match, which was part of their 18-month training stint in Bulawayo.

BMCA Select won the toss and elected to bowl first, with Zimbabwe Under-25 scoring 336 runs in 50 overs, before BMCA Select were bowled out for just 106 runs in 28.2 overs.

In the chase, BMCA Select lost wickets at regular intervals before Brandon James and Tawanda Mhora stabilised things with a 74-run stand for the fourth wicket.

With the team struggling on 13/3 in 3.1 overs, James and Mhora’s partnership was broken in the 20th over, leaving BMCA Select on 87/4.
James was the first to fall on 25 runs off 46 balls, while Mhora finished as the leading run getter with 38 runs from 51 deliveries.  The only other BMCA Select batter who managed double figures was Tinaye Shayamano with 15 runs from 35 balls. The other batters failed to get more than five runs.
