Zimbabwean Family Appeals for Help in Locating Missing Relative Amidst Property Inheritance Dispute

Sunday News Reporter

A concerned family from Luveve, Bulawayo has approached the authorities, expressing their worry about the whereabouts and safety of their relative, Gladys Ndlovu. Gladys, who by then was going by the name Grace Mpofu, left the country in the 1980s after the tragic murder of her then-husband, Andrew Mpala, during the Gukurahundi uprisings, has been residing in South Africa ever since.

In South Africa, Gladys met and married South African national Robert Ndlovu and were blessed with two children. The couple also managed to buy properties in South Africa, as their love blossomed.

Gladys’ life took a turn for the worse when her South African husband, Robert, passed away in October 2021. It was then that her troubles began, as her late husband’s relatives started making threats, claiming that she did not deserve to inherit the properties they had acquired together. The inheritance dispute escalated when they questioned her legal residency status in the country and further believed that the couple had Aldo bought properties in Zimbabwe including a gold rich farm in Matabeleland.

Zimbabwean relatives, who have managed to keep in touch with Gladys over the years, shared their concerns about her well-being. In a recent conversation, she confided to them about her growing fear and the threats she had been receiving from her late husband’s relatives. However, communication with Gladys has abruptly ceased, with her mobile phones now unreachable.

Desperate to find answers and ensure Gladys’ safety, her Zimbabwean relatives sent individuals to her South African residence in Gauteng province to locate her. Unfortunately, their search efforts have been in vain, as Gladys remains untraceable.

Adding to the family’s distress, Gladys’ South African in-laws took matters into their own hands. They allegedly manged to get contacts and reached out to her Zimbabwean relatives, issuing threatening calls, demanding Gladys be produced along with the properties title deeds. The in-laws warned that they would continue to hunt for her unless their demands were met.

The Mpofu family, deeply concerned for Gladys’ safety, is now appealing to the public for any information that could help locate her. They urge anyone who might have seen or heard from Gladys to come forward and assist in resolving this distressing situation.

The family is now working closely with local authorities in Zimbabwe and South Africa to investigate the matter further. Both governments have been alerted to the potential dangers Gladys may be facing, given her past experiences and the current inheritance dispute.

As the investigation unfolds, the family hopes for a swift resolution that ensures Gladys’ well-being and helps shed light on her current circumstances. They remain hopeful for her safe return and are relying on the support and cooperation of the public in their search efforts.

If you have any information regarding Gladys Mpofu’s whereabouts or her recent activities, please contact the Zimbabwean authorities at the provided helpline or your local police station immediately.
